Daily Dose is an ongoing self-portrait of my daughter and me and is a continual work in progress. Everyday, at approximately the same time, I place us as the subject of a photograph. Day in and day out, each image, taken at the same distance from the camera, with the same lighting, and the same background, begins to compound and grow. Days become weeks. Weeks become months. And soon months will become years.

The title, Daily Dose, is a reference to the daily medication regimen required to manage my health. Having struggled with health issues for over 17 years ago, and now approaching what I once thought would be the maximum time I might have, I am faced with a new and unknown reality. Simultaneously, my twelve-year old daughter, nearing those daunting teenage years, begins to uncover and unravel her relationship with her seemingly fragile and ever changing identity. Separated from my story and my past realities, all she knows is what I am just now beginning to accept: a reality of possibility and hope.

This body of work is about our journey. This is our daily dose
