Some of you may be wondering why I haven’t posted since June. OMG! I haven’t posted since the end of JUNE! It’s been 3 months! That’s crazy.
Well, I can tell you that I LOVE SUMMER! It’s my favorite time of year. It always has been. My daughter used to cry on the last day of school but NOT ME! NEVER! On the first day of school, I was already counting the days until summer. Now that I’m an adult I have a deep appreciation for fall and winter. I do look forward to it after the fire of summer. My life always seems to speed up to warp speed during the summer so I enjoy the routine and rooted-ness that comes with the end of summer. I like to hibernate a little.
And I am in desperate need of the decompression that comes with fall because this summer was especially action packed. So what did I do on my summer “vacation” this year? Well, we made a surf movie, of course!
Huh? Are you scratching your head, confused? Some of you may know that I have taken up surfing. Some people (my husband) might say I am addicted. There is a funny saying, “Surfing ruined my life!” Because it’s pretty much all you want to do. Well it’s true. And this summer, my husband and I along with a couple of friends of ours, decided to make a surf movie, titled Two Feet and Classy. And it pretty much took over every spare minute of my time.
(My husband runs a videography business called NESKA! Productions. So this was a natural progression for him and his business. Charleston Video Services. And our other partner in crime, Chris Sizemore, is a graphic designer and did an amazing job on all of our marketing materials. You can check his work out at CTS Designs. )
Of course, I still had a business to run. And a daughter to raise. And there was lots of surfing involved. So basically I had a really fun and exciting summer. Our little surf flick is set to premier this month on October 18th at the Carolina Surf Film Festival. It is a short film about traditional longboarding in Folly Beach, SC. It has been a labor of love, and I have included the trailer below. To read more about the project, you can read an article about it published here in Salt & Water Magazine.
